4 Tips for Safe Driving This Spring

|

Spring is finally here! Here are four tips to help keep you safe on the road:

  • Beware of potholes. California has gotten a lot of much-needed rain this winter, but now some of our roads are starting to show the effects. The wet weather has greatly contributed to the formation of cracks and potholes, and if your vehicle drives into one, it could throw your vehicle out of alignment, cause damage to your tires, or worse.
  • Get a spring tune up. Spring is a great time for a thorough maintenance check on your vehicle. Make sure that you check things like the condition and inflation of your tires, the condition of your windshield wipers, the condition of your engine and brakes, and more. Take your vehicle to a trusted mechanic if you don’t feel confident checking everything on your own.
  • Be careful in wet driving conditions. Spring is here, but there may still be some rain in the forecast. Drive carefully in the rain, especially when it first begins to mist, as this is when the roads are most slippery. Also remember to drive with your headlights on (it’s the law) and to maintain a safe following distance behind other drivers.
  • Share the road. The warmer Spring weather will bring out more drivers, bicyclists, motorcyclists, and pedestrians. Remember to always share the road with those around you and to always be a courteous driver.
